Cross Jack Herer with 2 Fast 2 Vast and you’ve won the Auto Jackpot! This indica-dominant auto-flowering strain is very simple and straightforward to grow, so easy in fact that it belies the sheer quality that this strain produces. With a grow time from germination to harvest of between 60 and 70 days it will mature indoors or outdoors anywhere that the daytime temperature doesn’t fall below 10 degrees such is its hardiness and resilience.
Its height reaches between 80 cm and 100 cm giving it a useful profile for outdoor gardens where tall plants may be a give-away. The buds from this strain literally ooze with THC-carrying resin the buds being much stickier than many autos. Expect between 50 to 80 gr. per plant. Like its Jack Herer ancestor the initial effect is quite euphoric and energetic but this stage evolves into a particularly deep, relaxing stone that lasts and lasts.
The taste begins with the fruitiness of 2 fast 2 Vast before becoming spicy and earthy like Jack Herer. This automatic strain is your winning ticket to happiness.
Matures in 50 days. (Hybrid seeds)
Ideal pH: 6.0-6.8. These big, fast-growing plants need plenty of moisture and lots of food. Grow them in rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Dig finished compost or well-rotted manure into the beds, and dig in 1 cup of complete organic fertilizer beneath each transplant. Water the soil around them when you irrigate, and always avoid overhead watering, as wet leaves will attract diseases like mildew. Keep weeded. Misshapen or withered fruits can result from incomplete pollination. Make sure to remove these from the plants as you see them, before they begin to rot, and put them in the compost. In the home garden it can be tempting to over-plant zucchinis. One well-grown plant will provide enough fruits for the average family. Instead of planting several zucchinis, use that space for other vegetables.
C. pepo. When Jackpot zucchini starts producing, you’ll think you hit the jackpot! Bushy plants have few spines, very high yield, and continuous production. Very similar to Ambassador in terms of its upright growth along one single stem, but even earlier to mature. Jackpot zucchini squash seeds fruits are cylindrical, and perfect to pick at 17cm (6″) long, not long after the flowers are pollinated. Taste: Unless you want to stuff them, for best flavor pick squash when they are small.
Pest: Striped Cucumber Beetle
Cultural controls: use tolerant or resistant varieties, rotate crops, till under crop debris soon after harvest, use floating row covers until flowers appear, use plastic mulch, perimeter trap cropping (Black Zucchini and Blue Hubbard make particularly good trap crops), use yellow sticky strips, hand-pick early morning when beetles are very sluggish.
Materials: Surround, Pyrethrum (PyGanic).
Culture: Tender, will not survive frost. Minimum germination temperature 60°, optimal temperature range 70–90°. Sow in hills 4′ apart, 5 seeds/hill. Thin to 2–3 best plants. Or start indoors, 25 days before transplanting. Immediately install wire hoops and row cover to keep out cucumber beetles. Floating row covers, especially when used in low tunnels, provide extra heat and can hasten maturity by 1 to 2 weeks. Make succession plantings to ensure harvest through the entire frost-free season, insurance against powdery mildew and other diseases of tiring old plants. For best flavor pick summer squash when they are small. Don’t leave oversized squash on the vines. It shuts down production.
Disease: Bacterial Wilt
Cultural control: Striped Cucumber Beetle is vector—control it; choose resistant varieties.
